DPDP Compliance

Tamil Society Insight is committed to respecting your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP), India’s landmark data protection law. This page explains how we comply with the DPDP and how you can exercise your rights as a data principal.

Scope and Applicability

The DPDP applies to the processing of digital personal data within India. While Tamil Society Insight does not collect personal data through user registration or accounts, we may automatically collect limited information such as IP addresses, browser type, and usage patterns via analytics tools and cookies for site functionality and content improvement. This processing falls under the scope of the DPDP when such data can reasonably identify an individual.

Your Rights Under DPDP

Under the DPDP, you have the following rights as a data principal:

  • Right to access your digital personal data we hold
  • Right to correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to erasure of your data, where permitted
  • Right to grievance redressal if you believe your rights have been violated
  • Right to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity

How We Comply

We do not maintain a database of personal information. Any data collected is anonymized, aggregated, and used solely for statistical purposes to enhance user experience. We do not sell, share, or transfer personal data to third parties for commercial purposes. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard data against unauthorized access or loss.

Data We Process

Under the DPDP, the following types of data may be incidentally collected:

  • IP addresses
  • Browser and device information
  • Pages visited and time spent on site
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (opt-out available)

This data is not linked to any identity unless voluntarily provided through contact forms.

Legal Basis for Processing

Our processing of digital personal data is based on legitimate interest under Section 11(2) of the DPDP, to ensure the website functions properly, improve content relevance, and provide an optimal user experience. We do not rely on consent for this limited processing, as it is not used for profiling, targeted advertising, or decision-making.

How to Exercise Your Rights

  2. Details of the data you wish to access, correct, or delete
  3. Any supporting information to help us locate your data

We will respond without undue delay and within 30 days of receipt.

Response Timeframes

Under the DPDP, we are required to respond to your requests within 30 days. If the request is complex or requires additional verification, we will inform you within this period and provide an estimated timeline for resolution.

No Discrimination Policy

We will not deny you access to our content, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your rights under the DPDP.

Updates and Changes

We may update this DPDP Compliance page from time to time to reflect changes in the law or our practices. The most recent version will always be posted here with an updated effective date.
